1. Smeg BCC02
Designed by Milan-based firm Deep Design, this sleek compact machine blends the brand's inimitable retro style with modern technology. This machine handles all stages of the coffee-making process starting from grinding beans, making a puck, then texturing milk before dispensed the right amount.
The machine is also available in red, black or taupe. bean-to-cup coffee machines is a great fit into any kitchen design. There are some flaws, however: most users found it to be a bit expensive for a bean to cup maker (and it's not equipped with an milk pitcher).
However, there were many glowing reviews about the quality of the coffee as well as the ease of use of this machine. The digital display provides feedback and step-by-step instructions throughout the entire brewing procedure, helping you to perfect your drink each time. The machine even allows you to adjust the grind size, in case that's not what you prefer. It's like having your very own personal barista at home (minus Elon Musk's rocket building skills and Harry Potter's invisibility cape).
This model is perfect for those who enjoy milky drinks. The steam wand is adjustable to the right and left to fit most drinking vessels, with the exception of Viking drinking horns. We were also impressed by the speed and efficiency with the way that the frothing was performed. It also produces an amazing espresso with a great crema and full flavor despite its compact size.
The BCC02 is an excellent all-rounder. It's quiet and efficient, and it is a great value at a price that is currently PS499. The only issue is the fact that it doesn't offer the same level of customisation as some of the other bean to cups we've tested. It's got a 15-bar pump rather than the more usual 19 bars, which isn't as good for making high-quality espressos. This is a great machine for those who like their coffee strong and dark. The only thing that may be a disadvantage for certain individuals is the price. This machine is not inexpensive, with prices that are close to PS999. It's still cheaper than comparable Jura machines with the same number features.
